Have your clothes tailored by a tailor
To look polished and put together, it’s important that your clothes fit well. Purchasing high-end, good-quality clothing that is made with fit and form in mind, instead of cheap fast fashion with off-kilter seams and silhouettes, is what it implies. Getting some clothing pieces tailored is also a possibility. I guarantee you, the extra cost upfront to purchase and tailor quality clothing will be worth it. Your clothing will be gorgeous and well-fitted, keeping you looking and feeling fresh for years to come.
Fix loose or tight jeans with a hair elastic
Do you possess a pair of jeans that are not fitting correctly? The problem can be solved with the help of a simple hair elastic! For jeans that are too tight, tie a hair elastic around the button. Push the elastic through the buttonhole, and then re-loop it around the button. By closing your pants together, you’ll be able to work with more stretch. For your Thanksgiving attire, hiding the elastic with a belt or under your shirt is a great idea. This guide is a great example of how to do it step-by-step.
Attach the elastic to your button for jeans that are too loose by tying it through the closest belt loop. Then, put the button through the buttonhole as you normally would. The hair elastic isn’t necessary for this one; you can also just put the button through the belt loop and then button it. Hide under a shirt or belt.
Pair baggy and tight clothing to create dimension
Pairing form-fitting pieces with oversized or baggy ones is essential to give your outfit dimension and movement. The general rule of thumb is to pair a loose top with tight pants (such as an oversized knit sweater with skinny jeans or leggings), or the opposite. Pairing a tight top with loose-fitting bottoms (such as a bodysuit with flared jeans). Sticking to this guideline can result in a chic look with minimal effort.
It’s not a requirement to wear a completely form-fitting outfit or pair baggy clothing with baggy clothing, if you want to. If you have a lot of larger or oversized pieces, you’ll want to add some elements that will give them more of a defined shape. To enhance your hips, try wearing a belt or crossbody to cinch your waist or tucking your oversized tee into your bottoms. If you tend to wear tighter clothing, add a few oversized pieces to create dimension. Incorporating XL accessories like large totes or blanket scarves can be done by wearing a long blazer or trench coat.
Get more basics in your closet
Get more basics is the fashion hack you’ll hear time and time again from fashion influencers. Avoid spending money on trendy pieces that will be out of style in a season. Your closet will be full of clothing you won’t wear, and you’ll have wasted your money. Instead of purchasing lots of prints, colors, and unique silhouettes, focus on buying wardrobe essentials. Choose pieces that you love and know will always make you feel good in. It’s important to remember that simple pieces are more versatile and can be styled in various ways and with different outfits.
Apart from neutrals and timeless silhouettes, some essential basics are a white collared shirt underneath a sweater (for an academic vibe) and a timeless black slip dress. and a white mock turtleneck layered under tees. Dresses or overalls can be worn. If you’re uncertain, a mini skirt and stockings paired with a t-shirt, sweater, or turtleneck are always a good choice. Take a look at these 9 basic outfit suggestions for when you have nothing to wear.
Use your neck to check if the pants will fit
Do you find it difficult to shop for pants? It can be exhausting trying to find your pants size in different brands, taking off your shoes and pants, and then putting them back on. The only thing I do is take them off again to try on another pair. For this reason, this is one of my favorite fashion hacks. Avoid the trouble of trying on clothes in the dressing room and determine if a pair of pants will fit without even trying them on.
With both hands, grasp both sides of the waist and wrap the waistband around your neck. If your hands are touching at the back, they will fit. If the pants don’t fit or your hands overlap, they will be too small or big (respectively). This is an effective way to narrow down your search for pants and only try on those that are most likely to fit.
Use a hair elastic to keep your belt flat
Is there too much pressure on your belt? Is there an uncomfortable extra belt that is hanging between your belt loops? We have a solution for you with this fashion hack. Select a hair tie that complements the color of your belt. Pull the hair tie in between your belt and pants, ensuring it is behind two layers of belt on top. Wrap the bottom part of your hair tie around the end of the belt loop. With the top of the hair tie, twist it once and then wrap it around the end of the belt loop. That creates another loop that will keep your belt flat against your pants.
