Early life
Akilade was born on June 27, 1998 in Cathcart, Scotland. She is of Nigerian descent, was born to her mother Christine, who is a Macmillan Cancer Support nurse, and she has a brother and a sister. Akilade started attending the Dance School of Scotland in Knightswood, but left after securing her role in Eve.
Career
Akilade made her first television appearance as Lily Watson in CBBC’s Eve in 2015, and portrayed the role until 2017, despite not having any formal training. Two episodes of the BBC Three series Clique featured her as a receptionist in 2017. In the Hulu series Find Me in Paris, she played Ines Le Breton until 2020. Akilade stated that she got the part and was flying to Paris for the next six months within two weeks of the audition.
Akilade was cast as PC Lorna Burns in the seventh season of Shetland by BBC Scotland in 2020. She was also seen in episodes of Doctors and Casualty. She acted twice in 2023, playing Olivia O’Neill in ITVX’s Six Four and Amy Callaghan in Alibi’s The Diplomat. In her professional debut, Akilade starred as Rebecca in the musical Starter for Ten at the Bristol Old Vic.
